Lola’s is possibly my favourite bakery and has been our go-to for birthdays since M was born (highly recommend the unicorn cake). I feel it combines excellent quality and design with affordability (an 8” personalised cake is around £16-18) and everyone always comments on how tasty they are.
So I was super excited when an email landed in my inbox announcing Lola’s first ever specially designed eid range which includes two Eid cupcakes and an Eid layer cake which will be available from 1- 16 May ie Sunday, and then for Eid ul Adha.
Just like their other cakes, the range will be hand-prepared and decorated in Lola’s North London bakery.
They’ve come up with some unique flavours including a Baklava cupcake – a pistachio base, honey mascarpone icing and baklava and pistachio nibs on top, as well as a Rose buttercream and almond flake cupcake.
There is also a Baklava Layer cake in a variety of sizes, so ideal for an Eid gift or Iftar treat. I usually find baklava too sweet and have to have a glass of milk with it! Having tried both now, I really enjoyed them ; I found the flavouring perfectly balanced and not too overpowering. The baklava itself was very well made.
They also have a few types of eid hampers (I was just looking for a gift to post to an auntie and saw their hampers) so do check them out too.
A really nice touch is their recognition of the importance of charity for Muslims and so Lola’s are committing to donate 5% of their sales to the Sufra food bank in North London.
There’s a few Lolas counters (out local is Westfield London) but they also have some lockers at convenient locations like Waterloo Station and Ealing Broadway and of course post out.
I would love to hear what you think of their range and if you think there are other flavours we could suggest to them.
